Solid Granny Square Blanket
Hey everyone!
I will include more pictures to come with updates to let you all know how it is going so I hope you enjoy!
UPDATE 8/20/2018:
I finally got a good start on some of the squares. I found that making the stitches tighters makes for a better, more solid square and that's what I was looking for. I also found that to prevent the squares from 'twisting' and not laying flat, you should rotate your work after every round, which also means adjusting the pattern a bit so that you can work backward, however, I found that this adjustment was easy and just came naturally. I really enjoyed this weekend because I got to watch my very attractive boyfriend work and crochet outside and enjoy the beautiful Ohio weather.
Much Love,
Taylor
So this is the first official blog post that is not just about me! I hope you all enjoy it and can bear with me until I can find myself in these posts. So far I am loving doing this and I just hope you enjoy and can use the information.
The first project I want to share with you guys is a blanket that I am working on. It is a crochet project so hopefully, it goes quickly and can satisfy my impatience. This blanket is meant to be a gift for my best girlfriend for Christmas. I am using a pattern that I will share with you that I found on Pinterest (obviously...) and my failures and triumphs. It usually takes me a few tries to get it right because I am new to crocheting but eventually I get it!
When I first started looking for patterns I came across one that did not turn out as well as I wanted it to, and I didn't take any pictures but basically, it had a lot more holes in it than I had planned so I went searching for another pattern. The granny square pattern I am using is for a solid granny square because I like the tighter stitches, which I feel makes for a warmer blanket. The previous link brings you to the pattern I am using, just scroll down into the comments and its there!
I am starting off with 3 different colors, which I may add to depending on how many squares I can make with each skein. All of these were purchased at Hobby Lobby and are the I Love This Yarn line.
The plan is to use the Menthe and Dark Denim as the 'guts' of the blanket and make most of the granny square out of them. Then use the ivory to make the last round of the granny square and border. So far, the pattern of colors I am using is 5 rounds with the color of choice and one round with the ivory. It makes a larger square but that just means fewer ends to weave in!
